A 57 Year Ride: Cyrus Dallin’s Quest to Raise His Iconic Paul Revere Statue: Nancy Blanton
June 15 @ 7:00 pm
Director of Outreach and Engagement at the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum, Nancy Blanton will introduce us to Cyrus Dallin. Born on the Utah frontier, Cyrus Dallin was a 22 year old sculpture student in Boston when, in 1883, he entered and won the city’s competition to honor Paul Revere’s legacy with a monument in Copley Square. It was not until 1940, after 57 years, 7 different versions and countless twists and turns, that Dallin’s vision was realized in the statue Prado which stands today in the North End. Learn about the remarkable journey behind Cyrus Dallin’s Paul Revere Monument, a statue beloved by Bostonians and recognized around the world as emblematic image of the War of Independence.
