Join entertainer Debi Block, as she uses film clips and music to guide us. Ms. Block has directed theatre for elementary and high schoolers for 25 years. She specializes in interactive activity programs for ages 55 plus. We will be exploring Carousel, the second Rogers and Hammerstein musical. The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow’s romance with millworker Julie Jordan. A secondary romance develops between Julie’s best friend, Carrie Pipperidge, and ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow. The musical opens with a ballet, The Carousel Waltz, and includes The Bench Scene, which is one of the most important scenes in musical theatre history. Songs include If I Love you, June is Bustin’ Out All Over and You’ll Never Walk Alone. This was Rodger’s favorite musical.
