Juneteenth is celebrated throughout the US on June 19th to recognize the end of slavery. 155 years later, chattel slavery is illegal and mass incarceration has replaced it as a form of bondage in Black and Brown communities. We invite the community to read “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson (both adult and YA versions available at BookEnds and the Winchester Public Library,) or watch the 2019 award-winning movie of the same title, and then learn from local experts during a panel discussion and conversation.
